NORTH WALES, PA — A North Wales mother has been charged after overdosing and leaving her young child unsupervised near heroin and syringes, police announced this week.

Michelle Gresh, 37, faces numerous charges, including endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person.

The incident occurred back on Nov. 28, 2019 at around 2 p.m. on the 500 block of North Wales Road.

Gresh overdosed on heroin and passed out on the floor next to her bed, according to Upper Gwynedd Police.

Gresh's 8-year-old child called 911, and first responders were able to use the opioid-reversing drug Narcan to revive Gresh and save her life, police said.

"By ingesting drugs, the mother voluntarily created a hazardous situation for her son," Upper Gwynedd Police Chief David W. Duffy said. "I think it’s remarkable that the child was able to recognize that his mother needed emergency care and was able to call 911."

The child had "full access" to heroin and syringes in several areas of the home, according to authorities.

Gresh was charged on Jan. 14. She posted $5,000 bail and was released. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 31.
