Montco Native Gets Golden Globe Nod For 'Greatest Showman' Song

The Montgomery County native is no stranger to being nominated – and winning – big time awards such as Oscars, Tonys, and Golden Globes.

Montgomery County's own Benj Pasek is truly carving out his spot as one of the best songwriters in Hollywood and Broadway, as the Oscar-, Golden Globe-, and Tony-winning Ardmore native has now earned another Golden Globe nomination for his work on the film "The Greatest Showman."

The nominations for the 75th Golden Globes were announced Monday, Dec. 11 and Pasek's song "This is Me" from the PT Barnum-focused film "The Greatest Showman," starring Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron, earned him a nomination for Best Original Song.

We can't leave out Pasek's writing partner Justin Paul either in mentioning the nomination, as the two are a songwriting powerhouse that seem to be dominating Hollywood's song-writing world.

Most recently, the pair won a Tony Award for Best Original Score for the hit Broadway show "Dear Evan Hansen" in June 2017.

But before that in January, the team won a Best Original Song Golden Globe for the song "City of Stars" from the film "La La Land." Then in February, Pasek, Paul, and Justin Hurwitz earned an Oscar for the same song.

In the 2018 Golden Globes, Pasek and Paul are up against songs by penned stars such as Nick Jonas, Mary J. Blige, and Mariah Carey. But that's likely not intimidating to them, as they had been up against Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, and Lin-Manuel Miranda in the 2017 Golden Globe nominations.

Pasek and Paul are ever-so-close to joining the "EGOT" club, as they only need to win an Emmy award to join the just 12 individuals who have all won Oscars, Tonys, Golden Globes, and Emmys.

The 75th Golden Globes will air at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8 on NBC.
