Montco PA Certified Peer Specialist Training

Montgomery County PA will be sponsoring a two hour information session for individuals interested in applying for the CPS training.

Are you a Montgomery County resident looking for a new career? Montgomery County PA will be hosting a FREE training for Montgomery County residents who are interested in becoming Certified Peer Specialists in the mental health field.

A Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) is an individual with lived experience of mental health recovery who has been trained and certified in the state of Pennsylvania on how to assist others in recovery and wellness.

Qualifications for CPS training:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 12 months work experience or 24 credit hours of post-secondary education in the past 3 years
  • Current or former participant in behavioral/mental health services for a "serious mental illness" (Schizophrenia, Major Mood Disorders, Psychotic Disorder NOS, or Borderline Personality Disorder), as defined in the mental health bulletin OMH-94-04.

An information session will be held between 4pm and 6pm on June 13th, 2016 at the Human Services Center in Norristown, PA (1430 DeKalb Street, Norristown, PA 19404). All who are interested should attend. Please register by contacting Donna Vaughn at 610-278-3791. You do NOT have to attend the information session in order to apply for the training.
