Montco To Raise Pride Flag Over Courthouse In Special Ceremony

NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County will hold a special ceremony Thursday in honor of Pride Month, raising a Pride flag over the county courthouse.

The event will take place on June 1 at 2 p.m. and will feature numerous local dignitaries and leaders who will speak on the importance of the day.

June 1 is the 54th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which took place in New York in June 1969 and are widely seen as a catalyst for the LGBTQ movement.

Featured guest speakers include:

• Kenneth E. Lawrence, Chair, Montgomery County Board of Commissioners
• Jamila H. Winder, Vice Chair, Montgomery County Board of Commissioners
• Lori Schreiber, Montgomery County Clerk of Courts
• Dr. Isabelle Porter, Director, Physical Therapist Assistant Program, Montgomery County Community College and LGBTQIA+ Advocate
• Brittany Kohler, President of the Montgomery County LGBT Business Council

The courthouse is on 2 East Airy Street in Norristown.
