Montco Republican Offices Close Down After Trump Assassination Attempt
Safety precautions were taken around Montgomery County, as local leaders from across the political spectrum responded to the attack.

BLUE BELL, PA — The Montgomery County Republican Committee has closed its office to the public in the wake of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
The Blue Bell office on Penllyn Blue Bell Pike, also known as the Trump 47 Office, will remain closed until further notice.
The move is one of numerous safety precautions taken locally and around the country in the wak of the shooting, which left one dead, and injured Trump and two other crowd members.

Leaders from across the political spectrum in Montgomery County issued condemnations after the shooting.

"We strongly condemn any form of violence, including yesterday’s targeting of former President Trump," Commissioner Jamila Winder said. "Elections—the foundation of our democracy—must be free, fair, and conducted without violence. Violent acts have no place in our society."

“I am outraged that in a time already fraught with uncertainty, division, and hatred, a cowardly act occurred last evening," former Montgomery County commissioner and DA Bruce Castor said. "The citizens of the Commonwealth and of the entire nation need to understand how a gunman could get so close to a former President running for election again."
"I am deeply troubled to learn of the events in Butler today, and I am thankful the former president is safe," Congresswoman Madeleine Dean said. "My prayers are with the former president, his family, all victims, and all in attendance at the rally. Political violence — any violence — has no place in our society."
The FBI early Sunday named Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the shooter. The agency said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
