A Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy will serve in a unique new role.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy will serve in a unique new role.
Dep. Edwin Walker was sworn in on Friday to serve on the governor's deputy sheriff training board.
The board is comprised of 10 individuals ranging from judges, sheriff's, educators, county commissioners, the Attorney General, and deputies.

“Ed’s passion, exemplary work, and leadership skills made him an obvious choice for this role,” said Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny in a statement. “As we learned with the recent Cosby trial, high-level training is critical in keeping the area safe especially under challenging circumstances.”
The board's function is to make rules and regulations for the training of sheriffs and deputy sheriffs.

Walker was recommended by Chief Deputy Adam T. Berry, officials said.
Walker is a 15-year Sheriff's Office veteran who has experience with a diversity of teams and roles, including Emergency Response Team leader, Bike Patrol Unit commander, Defensive Tactics instructor, Active Shooter Response Team instructor, and Less Lethal Weapons instructor.
