Montgomery Co. Holding Free Naloxone Give Away Day

In an effort to stop overdoses, free doses of naloxone will be available around the county.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — In an effort to stop overdoses, free doses of naloxone will be available around Montgomery County during a special event next week.

The event, Stop Overdoses in PA: Get Help Now Week, is a statewide initiative put together by the state Department of Health. Officials call it the largest one-day naloxone distrbution in the country.

Three Montgomery County Office of Public Health Clinics will distribute the kits.

Organizers said the initiative is aimed at those who aren't able to get naloxone from the pharmacy, for individuals who have a substance use disorder, and for family and friends of someone in crisis.

Kits include two doses. Everyone who receives a kit will also receive educational materials, instructions on adminstering the drug, and a list of local pharmacies where it is provided.

Doses will be available as supplies last on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Pottstown Health Center- 364 King Street, Pottstown
  • Norristown Health Center- 1430 DeKalb Street, 2nd floor, Norristown
  • Willow Grove Health Center- 102 York Road, 4th floor, Willow Grove
