Montgomery Co. Launches New Electric Vehicle Mapping Tool
The interactive tool comes as Montgomery County builds 18 new charging stations around the area.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County has launched a new online tool that maps the location of all electric vehicle chargers in the county.
Montgomery County Planning Commission officials say the goal of the map is to help communities build new EV stations strategically and safely.
“It’s clear that our residents are moving toward electric vehicles, which improve air quality for all of us and create cleaner, quieter streets,” Montgomery County Commissioner Neil K. Makhija said in a statement. “This is a great example of the role we play as a County, and how we can support municipalities and others who are trying to advance sustainability through EV charging infrastructure."

The new map gives residents and local governments details on electric vehicles, charging technology, and offers model ordinances that can be adapted by each municipality. It also identifies areas that might be opportunities for future charging stations, like government owned properties, commercial and retail areas, housing developments, and public spaces.
The county recently voted to install 18 new EV charging stations at five county-owned facilities. It's part of a larger initiative to transition all of the county's vehicles to electric.
