Montgomery County Holding Voting Machine 'Open House'
All county residents are invited to come check out options for the county's new voting machines at an upcoming open house.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Elections in the United States and even in Pennsylvania have, in the last few years, been turbulent, at least by historical standard.
Montgomery County has announced that they will be purchasing new voting machines to replace the older machines used in recent elections that were widely critiqued. These older machines were Sequoia AVC Advantage machines, which were called direct recording electric machines (DRE). DRE's are very common in Pennsylvania but came under fire in 2016 because they cannot be easily backed up.
Several new options for Montgomery County will be on display during an Open House event on Feb. 24.

Multiple vendors will be on hand with new machines which have been certified for use in elections in Pennsylvania.
"We will hold a public forum to outline the process for replacing our current voting machine system and give our residents an opportunity to offer brief public comment. Following the public comment period, residents will be able to view, test, and provide feedback on the various voting machines on-site," the county said.

The event will run to 12:30 p.m.
