Montgomery Twp. Police Host K9 Regional 'Field Trials' (GALLERY)

Some well-behaved hounds were on hand for the weekend's field trials.

The Montgomery Township police department hosted the local K9 field trials this weekend, with twenty teams from around the region participating.

The U.S. Police Canine Association Region 6 Police Dog 1 Field Trials took place at Windlestrae Park in North Wales.

From the Montgomery Couny Sheriff’s Office, Deputies Tom Franklin and Trevor Keller, along with their K9 partners Behr and Artus, competed.

The competition tested skills required in the hounds for daily patrol duties such as obedience, evidence detection, agility man search, criminal apprehension, and handler protection with gunfire, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office won USPCA Certification at the event, along with five awards:
