PHILADELPHIA, PA — Four more Phillies players and staff members have tested positive for coronavirus, the team announced Tuesday, as the virus has spread more widely than the initial positive tests from last week showed. The Phillies spring training facility in Clearwater, Florida remains shut down.

The new positive tests include two more players and two more staff members, the team announced. One of the players and one of the staff members were based at the Clearwater, while the other play and staff member were outside of the area.

That brings the total number of positive tests to 12, and includes seven players and five staff members.

Overall, the team has tested a total of at least 32 members of the organization, including 20 players and 12 staffers.

It remains unclear what impact these positive tests will ultimately have on the 2020 season. The official resumption of Phillies spring training, or "Spring Training II," is scheduled to resume in Philadelphia on July 1. The team has announced plans to also utilize their Triple A Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs stadium for workouts to help social distancing.

Opening Day for the 2020 season is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of July 24-26.
