NORRISTOWN, PA — The man who authorities said shot and killed a Montgomery County woman and mother of three on Monday afternoon was taken into custody on Tuesday, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced.

Elvyn Almodovar Rodriguez, 32, of Norristown, turned himself in to police in York on Tuesday night after a brief manhunt. Police had put out a wanted bulletin for him hours before his arrest.

He killed his ex-girlfriend Keishla Arroyo-Rodriguez, 28, in her home, authorities said. Investigators said that Arroyo-Rodriguez had broken up with Rodriguez just before Christmas, and that he had moved out of their home. She also told the father of her three children that Rodriguez had punched her in the face just before the break-up, police said.

Rodriguez also allegedly texted and called the father to inquire if Arroyo-Rodriguez had been seeing other men since their breakup, according to authorities.

“This murder of Keishla Arroyo-Rodriguez, a mother of small children, is a horrific ending to a domestic violence situation,” District Attorney Kevin Steele said in a statement. “We are asking the public to help us find Elvyn Rodriguez and bring him to justice.”

Just before 4 p.m. Monday, Arroyo-Rodriguez's 7-year-old daughter saw Rodriguez come back in the home, according to police.

Arroyo-Rodriguez was showering when Rodriguez went into the bathroom and several loud bangs were heard, authorities said.

The 7-year-old called her father and then 911 after she looked under the bathroom door and saw her mother lying on the floor, according to police.

Her father opened the door and discovered the mother dead.

Rodriguez will be transported from York to Montgomery County overnight and will be arraigned on Wednesday. There is no bail available for first degree murder, so he will be booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility after the arraignment.
