New Webinar Series Launches To Promote KOP Rail

The new web series will highlight the economic impacts of extending the Norristown High Speed Line into King of Prussia.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — A new webinar series will highlight the economic impacts of extending the Norristown High Speed Line into King of Prussia.

The new series, brought by the KOP Rail Coalition, is entitled KOP Rail: Smart Strategies for Connected Communities.

Numerous experts from across a variety of fields will discuss the benefits which the rail will bring. In addition, the webinars will highlight success stories of similar projects, such as in Tysons, Virginia and Silicon Valley.

“King of Prussia Rail is a necessary investment for our region to remain competitive,” Jerry Sweeney, President and CEO of Brandywine Realty Trust, and Chair of the King of Prussia Rail Coalition’s Advisory Committee, said in a statement. “The benefits of this project are far-reaching, and we are excited to highlight them throughout this series.”

The project was approved by SEPTA in January. The project is not yet fully approved; organizers must still put together a final environmental impact statement, hold public hearings on that document, and have it approved.

A webinar schedule is included below:

  • Tuesday, September 18 from 1 to 1:30 PM- KOP Rail: Tracking Progress, presented by Elizabeth Smith, PE, PMP, Director of Strategic Planning & Partnerships for SEPTA.
  • November 13, 2018 from 1 to 1:30 PM - The Economic Impacts of Rail presented by Nick Frontino, Managing Director of Projects & Operations, Economy League of Greater Philadelphia
  • January 15, 2019 from 1 to 1:30 PM - Opportunities for Walkability: Lessons Learned from Tysons presented by Barbara Byron, Office of Community Revitalization, Fairfax County, VA
