'No Health Concerns' Following Fire At Montco Chemical Plant
The fire started next to a 10,000 gallon tank, and prompted a response from Montgomery County hazmat crews and air quality officials.

UPPER MERION, PA — There are no health concerns for the community following a fire at a chemical plant in Montgomery County early Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at around 4:10 a.m. on the 800 block of River Road in Upper Merion Township, right on the border of West Conshohocken.
A small shed had caught fire on the property of Cooper's Creek Chemical Plant, which is a refiner of crude coal tar.

The shed was immediately next to a 10,000 gallon tank, which contained 1,000 gallons of an unspecified "product," according to authorities.
The fire was quickly extinguished, and hazmat and health officials responded to the scene to investigate any possible concerns for the public.

The air in the area was closely monitored, and nothing of concern was found, officials said. All firefighting runoff water was contained in the systems on the property of the plant, they added.
There were no injuries.
The Upper Merion Public Safety team was assisted by the Montgomery County Hazmat Team, the Department of Environmental Protection, and several local fire companies on the scene.
