Norristown Appoints New Director Of Recreation
The move comes as officials say they're at a "critical point" for improving quality of life in Norristown.
NORRISTOWN, PA β Norristown has appointed a new head of the municipality's recreation department, as officials say they're at a "critical point" for improving quality of life in Norristown.
The new director BriβAna Cropps-Hawkins comes with 15 years experience in big city recreation departments in Baltimore and Philadelphia, as well as several college departments.
βIβm looking forward to structuring Norristownβs Department of Recreation into a premier agency within a small town," she said. "By doing so I plan to create several opportunities utilizing the Benefits Based programming approach to enhance the quality of life of all citizens in Norristown."

Cropps-Hawkins also spent time as an adjunct professor of health and health education at Coppin State
Municipal Administrator Crandall O. Jones said that Cropps-Hawkins would spearhead the muncipality's efforts at improving facilities and access to natural spaces.

βBriβAna comes to us at a critical point in the Municipal Councilβs mission to expand quality of life offerings to Norristown residents,β Jones said in a statement. "Her significant experience and expertise will serve us well and I look forward to working with her on the various projects we have on the table."
The recreation department runs 12 parks, a Recreation Center, youth basketball programs, a free Summer Concert Series, and more.
