Norristown Car Wash Goes Up In Flames

Adjacent row homes were evacuated.

NORRISTOWN, PA - A Norristown car wash went up in flames early Tuesday evening after kerosene heaters alighted.

Sevearl area fire companies responded to the scene at the Citgo Gas Station on 220 West Main Street at about 5:10 p.m., the Times Herald reported.

Smoke was pluming into the sky when firefighters arrived and two adjacent rowhomes were evacuated for safety, the report states.

Torpedo-type kerosene heaters ignited flammable material inside the building, officials said.

Traffic was detoured until about 6:30 p.m., and residents were allowed to return to their homes.
