Norristown Education Official Criticizes Standardized Testing: Report
"If the purpose of learning is to score well on a test we've lost the sight of the real reason of learning." What do you think?

One Norristown education official is taking a stand against standardized testing, according to a Times Herald report.
Karen Rosenberg, vice president of the Education Association of the Norristown Area, says that critical time spent preparing for standardized testing takes away from learning time, the report states.
She also believes standardized tests stifle creativity make learning uninteresting for students, according to the report.

“If the purpose of learning is to score well on a test we’ve lost the sight of the real reason of learning,” Rosenberg said on behalf of teachers, according to the Times Herald. “And that is what is feels like, like we’ve lost our purpose. We’ve become a district of data managers, data collectors and data processes and data points with a little instruction in between.”
“We bored kids and crushed their spirit and confidence when we should have been gearing up for a year of excitement and a haunting love of and for learning.”
