
NORRISTOWN, PA — A Norristown Area School District elementary school student has been nominated for a prestigious national forum.
Darrius Whitfield, who is a third-grader at Hancock Elementary School, will join students across the nation at the National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM in Trenton, New Jersey.
The goal of the program is to empower students to explore interests and learning opportunities beyond what they may normally encounter in the classroom.

Darrius was nominated by his teacher who recognized him for his "exceptional maturity, scholastic merit, and leadership potential."
In addition to his aspirations as an engineer, Darrius also excels in football, basketball, wrestling, and baseball.

The Pathways to STEM program is organized by Envision, an organization putting on similar programs for 800,000 students around the world since 1985.
