Norristown Farm Park's October: Forest School, Bats, Spooky Hikes
Bats, birds, deer, tying flies, spooky night hikes: it's all happening at Norristown Farm Park this month.
NORRISTOWN, PA — October is officially here, and Norristown Farm Park has announced a slate of seasonal events this fall, including a range of educational and family friendly programs.
All events are free but there is limited capacity and pre-registration is required. Email rblacketter@montcopa.org to register.

Get outdoors and join park staff for our regular Tuesday bird walk. Bring binoculars or borrow a pair! Open to all ages.

Homeschool in the Forest
Wednesday, October 6, 10 a.m. or 12 noon
Explore the forest. Learn to identify trees by their leaves. Discover why forests have levels and how to age the trees. Two time slots available, please indicate which slot you would like to attend.
Children ages 7-13 with adult.
Bats!
Saturday, October 9, 2 p.m.
Discover why bats are not scary! Bats are important to nature keeping insects populations, like mosquitos, at bay. Come learn bat facts, why some are now endangered and how you can help. This will be in an indoor space to show a PowerPoint presentation. Children ages 8+.
White-tailed Deer
Saturday, October 16, 2 p.m.
Join Ranger Jake to learn all about the White-tailed Deer. Discover where they live, what they eat, and other fun facts. This will be in an indoor space to show a PowerPoint presentation. Children ages 7-Adult.
Nature Explorer: Bats!
Thursday, October 21, 10 a.m.
Discover why bats are not scary! Bats are important to nature to keeping insects populations, like mosquitos, at bay. Come learn bat facts, hear a story about bats and create a craft to take home. Also we will take a walk looking for our hidden bats! Children ages 3-6 with adult; $3.
Spooky Hike
Friday, October 22, 6:30 p.m.
It is almost Halloween. Come get spooked by nature. Take a hike and learn about some creepy sounding animals. Also experience some chilling stories about the farm park. Adult only.

Fly tying Series – Level 2
Wednesday, October 27, November 3, 10, & 17, 6 p.m.
Fly tying is the process of producing an artificial fly used by fly fishing anglers to catch fish. Remember our beginner fly tying series from the beginning of 2021? Well we are back with Series 2! Join us to learn some more “complex” flies. You will create one new fly each class. If you have a basic knowledge about tying flies this is the program for you. At the end of the series you will keep all the flies you create. All supplies will be provided to complete the flies. Limited tool kits available to borrow or bring your own. Children ages 8-Adult; $25 fee to cover supplies
Saturday Morning Bird Walk
Saturday, October 30, 8:30 a.m.
Join park staff for a Saturday Morning bird walk. Come observe some amazing birds that are only stopping by. Bring binoculars or borrow a pair. All ages.
