Norristown Gets Funding To Protect Schuylkill Banks, Study Feasibility of Hydroelectric Dam

Could a hydroelectric dam be coming to Norristown?

Governor Wolf has announced a series of investments to support statewide economic development and infrastructure efforts, and several projects in the local area will be impacted.

The projects are funded through the state's Commonwealth Financing Authority, which approved 418 projects totaling $152,414,748 of support on July 1.

“The projects approved today through the Commonwealth Financing Authority are critical to the economic vitality of the state,” Governor Wolf said in a statement. “These impactful investments will support significant community and economic improvements and spark revitalization in Pennsylvania’s communities.”

The Gateway to Norristown Planning Grant will get $75,000 to help connect Norristown to the Schuylkill River Trail and improve the area's environment.

The grant aims to create a environmentally-friendly plan for more than 20 acres of brownfield sites along the Schuylkill River in Norristown.
