Norristown Hiring New Career Firefighter: Here's What It Takes
From education and certifications to physical and mental toughness, the municipality is looking for the best.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown is looking for its next full time firefighters.
Applications are now being accepted for the entry-level, civil service position. A high school diploma, U.S. citizenship, a level two state firefighting certification, and physical and mental fitness are required.
Applicants must also meet the National Fire Protection's specific standards for either a driver operator or for pump operations and emergency vehicle operator training.

Applicants must both submit an application and take a written test to apply. Applications are available online at Norristown.org, and in person at the temporary Municipal Hall offices at 1700 Markley Street, Suite 104.
The written test will be held on April 12, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bucks County Public Safety Training Center located at 1760 South Easton Road in Doylestown.

The municipality said that the IFSTA's "Essentials of Firefighting" is the study guide.
