Norristown Man, Marine Corp Vet, IT Expert, Dies At 78
Norristown's Robert P. Hunter was an avid golfer and tennis player, and played basketball, football, and the piano in high school.

Robert P. Hunter of Norristown, passed away peacefully on Monday October 31, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was 78 years old. Born January 26, 1938 in Spring City, PA, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Mary Elizabeth (nee Schnell) Hunter and the beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Hartman) Hunter with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Bob was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp. in 1959. He worked at BF Goodrich for 24 years until they closed in 1986. Bob went back to school and studied Computer Science. He worked IT for the next several years at most of the local hospitals in the Norristown area. Bob was an avid golfer and tennis player. While in High School, he played both basketball and football and he was an accomplished pianist. He was very excited and looking forward to the birth of his first great granddaughter later this month.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, Bob is survived by his two children, Maureen E. Hunter (Gary R. Plouff) and Mark R. Hunter (Mary Katherine) six grandchildren; Lindsay Siegel (Joseph), Kevin Flis, Julia Hunter-Gellar, Timothy Hunter, Daniel Hunter and David Hunter, and his great granddaughter, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Hunter.
Relatives and friends are invited to share in Bob's Life Celebration on Saturday November 5, from 8 to 9:50 AM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000. His memorial service will begin at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name can be made to Einstein Montgomery Hospice, 1330 Powell St., Norristown, PA 19401.
