Norristown To Name Yolanda Williams New Assistant Superintendent
Yolanda Williams, a former English teacher and experienced principal with a doctorate in education, has been nominated to the position.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Yolanda Williams, a longtime English teacher and school leader with more than two decades of experience working in public schools, will be named the new assistant superintendent of the Norristown Area School District, officials announced Thursday.
Williams will be formally approved to a three-year contract during the school board meeting on Monday, Oct. 22.
"Dr. Williams is an excellent fit for the Norristown Area School District. She possesses the skills, drive, and vision the district and our community are looking for in our next leader,” Christopher Dormer, Superintendent of Schools, said in a statement. “Dr. Williams is committed to continuing to move the district forward and we are excited for her to get started.”

Williams has previously worked as principal in the Reading School District and the Pottsgrove School District, in addition to other postings.
“We are very proud that our district’s reputation for excellence attracted so many highly qualified candidates,” Dormer added. “Our search efforts yielded a diverse pool of 56 applicants. We were extremely pleased with the caliber of the candidates and both the Board of School Directors and I are confident that we have selected an outstanding educational leader to help guide the district and continue our tradition of excellence. We look forward to working with Dr. Williams for many years to come.”

Williams earned a bachelor's degree in English Education from Millersville University, and a master's in Educational Administration from Our Lady of Holy Cross College. She earned her doctorate in the same field from Gwynedd Mercy University.
Williams' contract will begin on Jan. 1, 2019.
