Norristown To Open Community Coronavirus Testing Site

A new coronavirus testing site is opening up this week in Norristown. Here's what you need to know.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A new coronavirus testing site is opening up this week in Norristown, officials have announced, becoming the first local town to offer testing on the municipal level.

The walk-up site will only be open for residents of the municipality of Norristown. It is slated to open at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 22.

It will be located in the parking lot of the Norristown Regional Health Center, which is located on 1401 Dekalb Street.

Testing will be a self-swab, similar to the program currently in place at the community site at Montgomery County Community College.

Testing is my appointment only, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. Registration can be completed by calling 610-592-0680, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on each day of testing. There will be a ten-person wait list, once all spots have been filled, and those individuals will be called in if there are any cancellations.

In addition to being a resident, you must have experienced symptoms related to coronavirus in order to be tested, or have come into contact with someone who has the virus. Acceptable symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell and taste, or nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Additionally, anyone who has been recommended by their doctor may be tested.

No health insurance, doctor's prescription, or payment is required.
