Norristown Plans Week of National Night Out Events

The National Night Out will be celebrated by municipalities around the nation next week. Norristown is extending the celebration.

NORRISTOWN, PA — The National Night Out will be celebrated by municipalities around the nation next week. Norristown is extending the celebration.

National Night Out is an initiative in which people in towns across the country gather at their homes, on their streets, and at their local community centers in recognition of their support of the community.

It helps strengthen the partnership between the community and police.

The festivities will begin on August 2 on the 1300 block of Willow Street from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. K9 Nero will be on hand to introduce himself to the community he serves.

Wednesday is Safety Day from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Crawford Park. Fire safety, water safety, a K9 demo, and police bikes and motorcycles will be just some of the attractions.

Finally, on Thursday, grab water ice with a cop on the 600 block of Green Street from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Police will serve children and community members water ice and introduce themselves.
