Norristown Remembered: The Art of Frank Batson
Local Artist Frank "Rinky" Batson gallery exhibit "Norristown Remembered" at the Historical Society of Montgomery County open to the public.
The Historical Society of Montgomery County is pleased to announce a new exhibition in its gallery that will run from February 21, 2017, to April 29, 2017. “Norristown Remembered” will feature Frank Batson’s paintings of Norristown and the surrounding region.
A Norristown native, Frank Batson has been interested in art for nearly all of his life. Batson graduated in 1954 from Norristown High School and many of his paintings are inspired by his memories of Norristown and the surrounding area from the 1940s, ‘50s, and ‘60s. Some of the buildings and places still remain. Other scenes are long gone, but Batson’s paintings bring these places back to life. Batson, now a resident of Worcester, paints from both photographs and personal memory to bring back these views of Montgomery County with remarkable accuracy.
The exhibit is open during our normal hours of operation and is free and open to the public. The Historical Society is open Monday and Thursday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday, 1 p.m.-8 p.m. For Saturday hours call 610-272-0297.
