Norristown Says Farewell To 2 School Board Members

There is a changing of the guard underway at the Norristown Area School District.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- There is a changing of the guard underway at the Norristown Area School District.

Two school board members will attend their final board meeting on Monday night as three newly elected members take their place.

"A big thank you for your years of service to the Norristown Area School District," the district said in a statement Monday.

E. Pearl Smith and Pamela Assenmacher are on their way out. Between the two of them, they have 24 years of service to the district under their belts.

Kathy Lally, the longtime school board secretary, is also retiring.

Shae Ashe and Jamila Winder will step in to serve four year terms on the board. Matt Rivera and Turea Hutson will return to serve as well.

All four will be sworn in by Honorable Judge William Nicolas on Monday during the School Board Reorganization Meeting at the Administration Building Board Room at 7 p.m. The building is located at 401 North Whitehall Road.
