Norristown School Refuses To Transfer Bullied Boy: Report

The boy and his family say that he's been beaten, bitten, had his nose broken, and his face shoved in paint.

Eisenhower Middle School in Norristown is refusing to transfer a boy who says he has been bullied and beaten multiple times, according to an NBC 10 report.

The 6th grade boy, who is not being identified by news media, said he was jumped several times on the way home from school, the report states.

His nose was broken, he was bitten, his face was shoved in paint, and the last beating landed him in the emergency room, he said, according to the report.

He has not returned to the school since that incident in mid-October.

Janet Samuels, the Superintendent of the Norristown Area School District, said that she rejected the boy’s family’s request to be transferred, calling it a “last resort,” the report states.

She added that “truancy proceedings” are underway, according to the report.

In Pennsylvania, truancy proceedings require the student and the family of a child who has not been attending to school to attend a hearing before a judge. The school can then fine the family for not sending the child to school.

Truancy fines are up to $300.
