Norristown Schools Awarded Grants For Fresh Fruit, Veggies
The Norristown Area School District has received an important grant to expand healthy food choices for students.

NORRISTOWN, PA — The Norristown Area School District has received an important grant to expand healthy food choices for students.
The funding, which comes from the US Department of Agriculture's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program, was announced Tuesday by State Sen. Katie Muth.
“Providing students with healthier food options at school is extremely important to their health and their education,” Muth said in a statement. “I am grateful that Norristown School District is receiving assistance to not only provide healthy meals, but also create an environment where healthy eating is valued."

The following schools received funding, according to Muth's office:
- Cole Manor Elementary – $25,817.50
- Gotwals Elementary – $23,345
- Hancock Elementary – $22,080
- Marshall Street Elementary – $37,375
- Paul V Fly Elementary – $28,962.50
- Ray S. Musselman Learning Center – $15,295
- Whitehall Elementary – $31,797.50
The program aims to expand healthy eating options for students, while also encouraging better eating choices in and out of school.
