Norristown Summer Construction: 12,000 Feet of Aging Waterpipe To Be Replaced

Norristown will replace 12,000 feet of aging waterpipe this summer, leading to potential traffic delays in construction areas.

Norristown, PA -- A massive undertaking to replace water main pipe in Norristown could lead to a difficult traffic situation in the borough throughout the summer, officials said.

Pennsylvania American Water will replace nearly 12,000 feet of aging water main along various streets throughout Norristown.

The work will start on Monday, July 11, on Arch, WestSpruce, Hamilton, Fornance, and New Hope Streets, the borough said.

The work will occur between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays through the end of September.

The second part of the project will begin on August 1 on Main Street and Markley Street, following the same daily time schedule on weekdays.

"While residents may experience a temporary interruption in water service and might experience increased traffic volume on these roads while this work is performed, all of these improvements are expected to enhance water service for household consumption and firefighting," the borough said in a statement.

The project will also include installing eighteen (18) new fire hydrants and replacing over one hundred and seventy utility-owned services lines.
