Norristown Swears In 2 New Full Time Firefighters
Norristown's streets just got a little bit safer.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown's streets just got a little bit safer. Two new full time, career firefighters were approved for hire during a recent meeting of municipal council, expanding one of the town's most critical services.
William Ronayne and Keith Whitely were sworn in during the meeting, with friends and family and members of the West Chester Fire Department in the audience in support. After receiving official welcome from municipal council President Thomas Lepera, Ronayne and Whitely shook hands with board members around the chamber.
Applause greeted each upon completion of the swearing in.

"Welcome to Norristown, Keith and Bill! Safest wishes to you as you protect our homes and businesses," the municipality shared.
The pair were hired to replace two outgoing members of the fire department. There are now 15 total career firefighters on staff, along with 12 volunteers.
