Norristown Town Hall To Address New Dekalb Street, Montgomery Park Developments
Proposed developments on 1529 Dekalb Street and at Montgomery Park will be the subject of an upcoming Norristown Town Hall meeting.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- A Town Hall meeting will be held in Norristown to address the new proposed developments on 1529 Dekalb Street and at Montgomery Park.
Developer Sara Peck, of developer Progressive Housing Ventures, will be on hand to discuss the project with the public. The Town Hall is being organized and hosted by Councilwoman Valerie Scott Cooper of the borough's 3rd district.
The once blighted block of 1500 Dekalb Street could get 34 new units of "affordably priced housing," according to county records. The plan calls for 26 two-bedroom units and eight three-bedroom units.

Progressive Housing already runs the Arbor Heights and Arbor Mews developments within the borough.
Some residents who oppose the project say that there has not been enough transparency in the planning process. Some argued that the public meeting which was held, a requirement to gauge the level of community support, did not have any actual members of the community in attendance.

The Town Hall will also field questions about the proposal for Montgomery Park, which would be located on the site of the former Montgomery Hospital, demolished in 2015.
The event will be held on Thursday, April 20 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Norristown Public Library, on 1001 Powell Street. It is free and open to the public.
