Norristown Warns Of Aggressive PECO Phone Scam

The Norristown Police Department is alerting the public of a scam that they have encountered throughout November.

Individuals who claim to work for PECO have been calling business owners and residents notifying them their power will be shut off unless they are wired money, police said.

The scammers state that the victim’s previous payments did not go through, according to police.

They also sometimes know the exact amounts of the bill.

If you receive one of these calls, please call police right away.

Do not wire any money, police said.

If you have questions regarding your bill/payments, please call PECO to verify status of service/payments.

If you receive any other type of suspicious calls, police urge you notify them immediately.
