Norristown Weighs Creation Of Deputy Police Chief Position

Norristown is considering the addition of a significant new position within the force.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown will weigh the creation of a deputy police chief position during a municipal council meeting Tuesday night.

It would represent a marked change to the organization of the department under new Police Chief Michael Trail..

The position would "provide assistance to the police chief administrative and operational functions, and promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community," according to municipal documents.

It's one of the main points on the council meeting agenda set for Tuesday night. The council will also go over the recent winter storm and whether a disaster declaration should be confirmed.
