Norristown's Elmwood Park Zoo Announces Reopening Date
The wait is over after months of closure at Elmwood.
NORRISTOWN, PA — After months of closure due to demolition and construction on a new expansion, Norristown's Elmwood Park Zoo will reopen to the public on Saturday, March 18. It's been shut down since early January.
The zoo will remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays as construction continues. Due to those activities, the layout of the zoo will be a bit changed from what guests are accustomed to.
"There are many things that will be different since your last visit," the zoo said in announcing their reopening. "The front entrance of the zoo is still under construction, so guests will enter via a new path."

This temporary entrance will be located away from the construction. The zoo said they would provide details this week.
While guests will be able to return to the zoo on Saturday, the new hospital and welcome center won't be fully complete for about two years.
