KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — A large bird that appeared to be an ostrich was seen running free on I-76 in King of Prussia on Monday afternoon while lines of traffic trickled by, according to eyewitnesses, media reports, and videos circulating across social media.

It's not yet clear where the bird came from or why it was running on the road. It was spotted in the area of Gulph Road, near the exit ramp.

One of the clips shared by KYW News shows the ostrich walking on the highway. Later clips show a group of people surrounding it and one man with his hand on the ostrich's neck as it flailed around and eventually escaped. Another man stood nearby holding a large bag.

It's not the first time an ostrich or an emu has been loose on the roads in Montgomery County. In 2020, an emu ran on Route 422 and became an Internet sensation until it was shot and killed by state police in Upper Providence.
