PA Weather: 'Increasing Threat' For Weekend Nor'easter

PHILADELPHIA, PA — There is an increasing degree of confidence among forecasters that a nor'easter could hit the east coast this weekend, potentially bringing significant snow and heavy winds to the greater Philadelphia area.

It's the latest in a sudden barrage of winter storms since the New Year began.

While details are vague and there is much uncertainty about timing and strength, it appears likely that the front would arrive at some point on Friday afternoon.

"There is an increasing potential for one (storm) & we are closely monitoring," the National Weather Service's Mt. Holly, New Jersey station said on Twitter. "It is way too soon for any details as the exact track will determine the impacts.

Besides the potential for snow, the storm could also generate significant wind gusts and flooding concerns.
