Thunderstorms, Rain To Hit Philly Area Over Memorial Day Weekend

A powerful "slow-moving" storm front is forecasted to hit the Philadelphia area over Memorial Day weekend.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A stubborn storm impacting much of the nation, which forecasters are calling "slow-moving," is slated to hit the greater Philadelphia area over Memorial Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The front is slated to hit the region on Thursday, with chances for thunderstorms on Friday and intermittent rain continuing through Saturday night, forecasters said.

"Even though it is unlikely to rain the entire time anywhere in the region from Friday evening through Sunday, embedded within the showers will be localized torrential downpours and pockets of robust thunderstorms," Accuweather reports. "A few areas could be saddled with brief flooding issues and/or damaging wind gusts and frequent lightning strikes."
