Timeline For Rainstorm, Spring Weather In Philly Area This Week

A powerful storm front sweeping across the country could reach the greater Philadelphia area, but sunny skies are to follow.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A powerful storm front sweeping across the country could reach the greater Philadelphia area late Monday into Tuesday, but sunny skies are to follow as beautiful spring weather takes hold for the remainder of the week, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

While the storm front heading from the Gulf of Mexico and across the midwest will scatter rain, hail, and heavy winds on several states, eastern Pennsylvania is likely to just see rain. Some showers are likely after 1 a.m. Monday night into Tuesday, with drizzle continuing into the morning, forecasters said.

Steady rainfall is likely from around 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The total accumulation of the storm to this point is expected to be less than a tenth of an inch.

Some intermittent showers could continue until 8 p.m. Tuesday night, with another tenth of an inch potentially falling, the National Weather Service said. The storm system will move out by the end of the evening.

Most of the rest of the week, however, will be sunny and clear, with highs in the 50s and low 60s.
