Part Of Norristown To Be Sprayed For West Nile Mosquitoes
Part of Norristown will be sprayed next week to eliminate mosquitoes possibly infected with West Nile.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Part of Norristown will be sprayed next week to eliminate mosquitoes possibly infected with West Nile.
The spraying will take place on Monday, Aug. 6 from 8:15 p.m. to midnight. The impacted area is highlighted by yellow on the map above, and is bounded by Forrest Avenue, Sterigere Street, the Schuylkill River, and the railroad tracks.
A rain date for the spraying has been set for Aug. 13.

The spraying will target areas where mosquitoes breed with Duet duel-action adulticide. Spray will be dispersed at a rate of .75 ounces per acre.
West Nile virus can cause humans to contract West Nile encephalitis, an infection that can result in an inflammation of the brain. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, all residents in areas where virus activity has been identified are at risk of contracting West Nile encephalitis.

It is recommended that residents stay indoors for the duration of the spraying and for about 30 minutes after.
