Phillies, behind Alfaro and Herrerra, defeat the Braves 7-3

Alfaro and Herrera both hit homeruns to lead the Phillies' offense. Herrera exploded for two homeruns on the night.

Centerfielder Odubel Herrera had two home runs Friday night to lead the Phillies to a 7-3 home-win over the Atlanta Braves Friday night in Major League baseball. Philadelphia catcher Jorge Alfaro also homered for the home team Friday night.

The Phillies scored their seven runs on just nine hits and are now 11-3 at home this season. They are a surprising 16-9 on the young season after going 66-96 in 2017. Aaron Nola pitched seven strong innings for Philadelphia Friday night with four strikeouts and just one walk. He is now 3-1 on the young season.

Herrera is now batting a sizzling .348 on the season and the team is in second place in the NL East behind the New York Mets (16-8).

Atlanta is now 14-11 on the season.

The Braves and Phillies continue their series Saturday night at Citizens' Bank Park in Philadelphia at 6:05 p.m. Eastern Time.
