Philadelphia has won six of its last seven games and will start pitcher Jake Arrieta (0-0, 4.50 E.R.A) on Saturday against Chris Archer (1-0, 5.94 E.R.A.) Archer has struck out 22 batters and walked just seven on the young season.
Philadelphia got a nice 2-1 win over the Rays on Friday. Phillies pitcher Vince Velasquez had a fine outing, scattering just four hits over 6.2 innings of work.
The Phils 7-5 record after 12 games is amazing as they are hitting just .221 on the young season. Phils' catcher Jorge Alfaro delivered the go-ahead hit in the ninth inning on Friday, knocking in Scott Kingery.
