Herrera, 27, was arrested inside his hotel room, according to authorities. He was charged with simple assault and later released.
He was placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball, in accordance with their domestic violence policy. At the bare minimum, that means he'll be away from the team for one week, and likely longer.

The Phillies released a statement on Tuesday addressing the charges.
"This morning we were made of an alleged incident involving Odubel Herrera. Upon receiving this information, we immediately reported the incident to Major League Baseball, which has informed us that Herrera has been placed on Administrative Leave. The Phillies take any domestic violence accustation seriously, and strongly support the Joint Domestic Violence Policy agreed upon by MLB and the MLBPA."
The league will investigate the incident, and determine if further punitive steps will be taken. Recent decisions on domestic abuse related incidents include a 30 day suspension for Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman in 2016, and, more controversially, a 40 game suspension for Cubs shortstop Addison Russell earlier this year.
