Police Briefs

The following information was supplied by the Norristown Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Shots Fired

  • According to the , officers responded to the 300 block of East Wood Street Wednesday, July 6, at 11:30 p.m. for reports of shots fired. Police said witnesses reported a dark vehicle parked in front of a church at Wood and Green Valley streets, and that three males had exited the vehicle and fled after the shots were fired. Police said they found a 2006 Hyundai Sonata parked at the location with Kasheef W. Murray, of Philadelphia, asleep in the backseat. Police reported officers performed a pedestrian stop on two black males walking south on Green Valley, about 100 yards away from the vehicle, and detained Bryant Kevin James, of 7059 Greenwood Ave. in Upper Darby, and Abdul Omar Timbo, of Philadelphia. Police said officers located a small plastic bag of suspected marijuana on the curb of Green Valley near where they witnessed Timbo and James walking. Police reported a black bookbag containing a .32 revolver loaded with two spent casings and a photo ID of Timbo was also found in the area. Police said a black Airsoft semi-automatic pistol was found lying on the grass in the area, as well. Witnesses reported two males had exited the car and hid under shrubbery on the northeast corner of the intersection of Arch and Wood streets, as though attempting to scare someone coming out of the residence at 1302 Arch St., police reported. Police said they found a magazine from an Airsoft gun laying on the ground near the shrubbery. James and Timbo were arrested for loitering and prowling, conspiracy, carrying firearms without a license, and possession of marijuana. Police reported Murray was arrested for conspiracy and possession of marijuana.

Possession

  • Police said they received a complaint from a concerned citizen on Sunday, July 3, at 8:11 p.m. that a drug transaction had just occurred in the 500 block of Selma Street. The citizen said two females, one brunette and one blonde, parked in a red Ford Focus and conducted a drug transaction, police said. Police reported, upon arrival, two females matching the citizen's description were found in the red Ford Focus. Julie Warburton, of 2862 First St., surrendered two clear plastic packets containing two blue, wax-paper packets of heroin, which she had concealed in her bra, and admitted she had just purchased from a black male in that location, police reported. The other female, Joanne Jarvis, of Birdsboro, had an active warrant from Upper Providence and was placed under arrest. During a search of her person, police found a syringe containing a clear liquid in her purse and numerous empty blue wax-paper packets, according to reports.

Possession with Intent to Deliver

  • Police said a search warrant was carried out at the residence of Stephen Gabriel Rodriguez, of 601 Arch St., Thursday, June 30, at 1:40 p.m. During the search, officers found the following: $12,464 in cash, an Airstrike 240 air gun, a digital scale, and a sandwich baggie weighing 6.2 grams containing cocaine and other items.

Burglary

  • Police said Guadalupe Mendosa, of 243 E. Main St., Apt. 2, reported on Thursday, July 7, that sometime between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, someone broke into her apartment via the rear window and stole two black iPod touches, a pink PSP, and a black Wii console.

DUI

  • On Thursday, July 7, at 10:11 p.m., Daniel Wachter, of 710 Haws Ave., was involved in a crash with a parked car after being cut off by another vehicle at Chain and West Airy streets, police reported. Police said when officers tried to make contact with Wachter, he mumbled and had dilated eyes. Police said officers suspected Wachter of DUI and, though he refused to submit to a blood test, he did admit to an officer during transport to the station that he was under the influence of heroin.
  • On Thursday, July 7, at 10:39 p.m., Gerald Jones, of 814 Green St., was involved in a car accident at Swede and Elm streets, police said. Police reported that, upon arrival, Jones had slurred speech, trouble balancing and a strong odor of alcohol on his person. Police said Jones did submit to a blood test.
