Police Briefs
The following information was supplied by the Norristown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Possession
- According to reports from the , Craig Antonio Keller, of the 700 block of Chain Street, was arrested on three misdemeanor drug charges Tuesday, Dec. 13. Police went to the above location to serve Keller with a warrant. Police state Keller was arrested at his residence and transported to the police department. While processing him, police reportedly found a small rolled cigar containing suspected marijuana, which also field tested positive as the substance. He was then charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The marijuana was submitted for further testing.
DUI
- Jose Cruz Aguila, of the 400 block of Hamilton Street, was arrested for driving under the influence, reckless driving and drivers license required Wednesday, Dec. 14. According to the report, police were sitting in a marked patrol car on Main and Markley streets monitoring traffic when they observed a 2001 Ford Windstar reportedly traveling in excess of 50 miles per hour where the speed limit is 25 miles per hour. Police then turned on emergency lights and tried to pull over the vehicle; however, the driver did not stop the vehicle until reaching a parking lot on the 400 block of Hamilton Street. Aguila, who was driving the van, attempted to park the car but had difficulty and allegedly almost hit two parked cars. Police advised him to put the vehicle in park and exit it but he allegedly refused. Police then reportedly ahd to physically remove him from the vehicle, at which time police state they observed several signs of Aguila being intoxicated. Aguila was placed under arrest and consented to a blood alcohol test. A check of Aguila revealed he allegedly did not have a valid driver’s license. After giving blood at Montgomery Hospital, the accused was transported to the police department where he was processed and held until sober.
Public Drunkenness
- Roberto Robles, of the 300 block of West Marshall Street, was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct Tuesday, Dec. 13. Police were dispatched to Haws and West Airy streets for a report of a reckless driver operating a black pick-up truck. The responding police officer discovered the above vehicle parked at a church at Haws and West Airy streets with four men sitting inside. Upon activating the patrol vehicle’s overhead lights, the man in the driver’s seat and two passengers exited the vehicle and were advised to get back in the truck. The two passengers complied; however, the driver allegedly walked away. Police reportedly had to physically stop the driver from leaving the scene at which point a slight struggle reportedly ensued. Police identified the driver as Robles and reportedly detected the smell of alcohol on him. He was taken into custody and transported to the police station where he was held until sober.
- Mauro Santiago-Morales, who has no known address, was charged with public drunkenness and simple trespass Tuesday, Dec. 13. Police responded to the laundry mat on the 100 block of West Elm Street for a report of an allegedly intoxicated man inside. Police reportedly found Santiago-Morales inside and state he allegedly smelled of alcohol, had red glassy eyes and had to be assisted to his feet. In addition, he reportedly did not have permission to be in the building. He was arrested and transported to police station where he was held until sober.
Disorderly Conduct
- Haneef Jones, of the 600 block of East Roberts Street; Nathan Pralour, of the 800 block of George Street; and Aaron Hayes, of the 800 block of Violet Street, were cited with disorderly conduct Wednesday, Dec. 14. According to the report, police said the observed Jones, Pralour and Hayes walking In the Basin and Willow streets area allegedly smoking marijuana. Police stopped the men and reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana on them. Their actions reportedly caused a physically offensive condition by smoking marijuana in public and it served no legitimate purpose, police said. Jones and Pralour were cited by mail. Hayes was arrested for active fine and cost warrants. A warrant check revealed two active fine and cost warrants. He was escorted to court and released after seeing a judge.
- Anthony Delbono, of the 900 block of Hamilton Street, was charged with disorderly conduct, Wednesday, Dec. 14. Delbono was asked to leave the on the 200 block of Main Street after reportedly spending an extended length of time there without purchasing anything. He allegedly refused to leave and got into a verbal confrontation with the manager where he reportedly threatened to punch him. Delbono was cited and released on scene.
Underage Drinking
- Alyssa Salt, of the 00 block of Washington Avenue, was cited for underage drinking Tuesday, Dec. 13. Police observed Salt on Main and Markley streets reportedly with an open container in her vehicle. According to the report, she is not yet 21 years old.
Burglary
- A victim reported to police that some time between 6 and 11 p.m. her home on the 300 block of George Street was burglarized. She reported a video game controller and video game missing. The items were valued at $300. The victim states the burglar entered the residence through a second floor window with a ladder that was lying in the yard because the window was still propped open. The vicimt received a victim’s rights and compensation forms.
Theft
- John Shields, of the 8400 block of Strahle Terrace, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property Wednesday, Dec. 14. Police were dispatched to Rowley Downs Vending of the 200 block of East Washington Street for a report of theft. Upon their arrival, police spoke with the company owner and a general manager. The owner stated Shileds allegedly stole between $6,000 and $10,000 from the company during the last 30 days. When confronted by management, Shields reportedly fled by foot with keys to a company vehicle. Police spotted him at the transportation center and he allegedly ran again. Two sheriff deputies were able to catch and detained him. Shields was positively identified as the alleged thief by the business owner and general manager. He was taken into custody and held for arraignment.
- David Benson, of the 300 block of Buttonwood Street, was charged with retail theft and disorderly conduct Wednesday, Dec. 14. Police were dispatched to located on the 1200 block of West Main Street for a report of theft. Store security said they witnessed Benson allegedly put Tide and Febreeze down his pants pockets. When confronted, Benson allegedly threw down an open box of cream into a shopping cart and pushed the guard. Benson then reportedly attempted to leave the store but was advised police were called. Benson then allegedly pulled out a closed knife but security was reportedly able to disarm him. A state compensation and victim’s rights pamphlet were issued.
Harassment
- Joann Malloy, of the 900 block of Noble Street, was cited for harassment Sunday, Dec. 11. The victim reported to police that Malloy allegedly approached him in front of his residence on the 900 block of Noble Street and reportedly cursed at him. The victim states he ignored her and does not want any further contact with her. Malloy was cited by mail.
- Patricia Thomas-Laroche, of the 00 block of Camron Court in Royersford, was cited for harassment Tuesday, Dec. 6. According to the report, Thomas-Laroche was allegedly involved with a physical altercation with a victim whom she allegedly struck in the face. She was mailed a citation.
Found Marijuana
- Police were walking east on Fornance Street and discovered a large Ziploc bag containing a substantial amount of marijuana Wednesday, Dec. 14. The bag was on the southside sidewalk. The drugs were entered into evidence to be destroyed.
Recovered Property
- Police were checking abandoned and towed vehicles Dec. 14 and found an ATV reported stolen. The 2009 Qiye Coolster Mountop reported stolen Dec. 4 from the 300 block of Chain Street was towed to Ed Bowes tow yard. The victim was contacted and advised of the location of his vehicle.
Registration Seizures
- Police conducted a traffic stop on the 1000 block of Willow Street of a black 2002 Dodge for a suspended registration Tuesday, Dec. 13 due to insurance cancellation. The registration plate was seized and sent to PennDOT.
- Police seized the registration of a green Nissan Altima on the 800 block of Dekalb Street Tuesday, Dec. 13. According to the report, the vehicle’s insurance was cancelled. It was seized and sent to PennDOT.
Animal Reports
- Police were dispatched to Arch and Penn streets for a report of a loose dog Tuesday, Dec. 13. The animal was described as a brown and white Chihuahua. It was recovered and brought to the police station for safe keeping to see if any resident would call the police station to claim it. The animal was wearing a collar but did not have any identifying marks or tags on it. It was not claimed and dropped off at Montgomery County SPCA at 10:45 p.m.
Warrants
- David K. Picuri, of the 500 block of Ford Street, was arrested for an active warrant Tuesday, Dec. 13. Police were dispatched to for a report of a male in the emergency room lobby with an active warrant. The warrant was confirmed and Picuri was arrested and transported to the police department without incident.
