Popular Italian Grocery Store Coming To KOP As It Expands Into Philly Region

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Popular New York grocery store chain Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace is expanding into the Philadelphia region, the Philadelphia Business Journal first reported this week.

It will be the second new establishment to open up in part of the former Hobby Lobby location in King of Prussia, as a Raising Cane's Chicken is also on the way.

Uncle Giuseppe’s has been restricted to New York and New Jersey since its 2001 founding. It has 12 locations.

The grocer's new location on 320 W. DeKalb Pike will set it up as a major competitor to nearby Wegmans, Eataly, Trader Joe's, and Giant.

Of those, Wegmans may be the best comparison. Uncle Giuseppe’s has a reputation for its excellent and gourmet fresh foods, including fresh pastas, a signature mozzarella machine from Italy, a large seafood and meats department, and an Italian bakery.

It comes about a year after the more experiential Italian grocer, Eataly, opened at the mall.

The new marketplace will bring hundreds of jobs to the area and will open in late 2027, the PBJ report states.

In addition to the King of Prussia location, Uncle Guiseppe's is also opening up shop in Moorestown.
