Popular Montco Themed Restaurant Closing

Darden Restaurants, Inc. will close 14 Bahama Breeze locations by April 5, including one in King of Prussia.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — The company that owns Bahama Breeze — a casual dining restaurant chain known for its vibrant, Caribbean-inspired atmosphere — will close 14 locations throughout the nation in April, including one in King of Prussia.

The closed locations include Darden's two Pennsylvania Bahama Breeze locations: One outside the King of Prussia Mall that was in business for over 10 years, and another in Pittsburgh.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. announced on Tuesday that it will close 14 locations and convert the 14 remaining locations into other Darden brands. Darden operates brands such as Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, and Yard House.

Founded in 1996, Bahama Breeze offered a "vacation-like" escape, featuring live island-style music and a menu of tropical cocktails, seafood, coconut shrimp, paella, and jerk-chicken dishes.

According to a press release, Darden said the closures won't significantly impact the company's financial results.

Darden said all 14 restaurants will continue to operate through April 5.

Darden anticipates converting the remaining 14 locations over the next 12 to 18 months. Those locations will remain open until any temporary closures are necessary for the conversion process.

Darden has not disclosed the specific brands into which these locations will be converted. The company said the conversion locations are suitable sites that will benefit several brands within its portfolio.
