Portion Of Schuylkill River Trail In Norristown To Shut Down

A section of the trail will be shut down while work on the Lafayette Street Extension Project continues.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A section of the Schuylkill River Trail will be shut down while work on the Lafayette Street Extension Project continues.

The closure will be in place from 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 6 through 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, and will impact the trail from Swede to Ford streets.

Officials said that there will be no formal detour route established. Trail users are encouraged to make their own path through adjacent neighborhoods.

The Lafayette Street Extension Project work involves demolishing a viaduct east of DeKalb Street. The trail will be rebuilt in a new location. All rebuilding work will be complete by the May 12.
