While daytime activity is unusual for raccoons and unusual activity is associated with rabid animals, a raccoon that is moving around while the sun is out is not neccessarily rabid, according to WorldRabiesDay.org.

It is not known exactly what has caused the latest increase in raccoon activity, although easily accessible trash cans could be one reason, experts say.
