'Refined' Vision For Norristown's Elmwood Park Redevelopment
An upcoming meeting will address progress in the plan to reshape Elmwood Park.
NORRISTOWN, PA — An upcoming municipal meeting in Norristown will present a "refined" concept of the redevelopment plan for Elmwood Park, officials said.
The meeting on the park's proposed master plan will be held on Feb. 20, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Rec Center. The public is invited to the meeting and to provide feedback on the presentation.
In addition to improving the existing park — which does not include the zoo grounds — the new plans will expand the park's property to cover Roosevelt Field, officials said.

The details of exactly what the improvements to the park will look like are still being developed, and the municipality has retained an architectural firm, Simone Collins Landscape Architecture, to help with the plan.
Hurricanes, floods, and fires and wreaked havoc on the 40 acre property on the banks of Stony Creek in recent years, sparking the redevelopment calls.

Two more meetings are scheduled after Feb. 20:
- April 1, 7 p.m. (Draft Master Plan Presentation)
- June 26, 7 p.m. (Final Master Plan Presentation)
